Opinion:
I actually like the fact that 1st chapter is free. I think it's good business for luring new people.
Personally I think that it's a good decision since the og fans and people who played Chapter 1 are majority against the franchise because of the old mistakes.
Completely replacing the blood flow of the community can be really healthy, especially if the previous community was against the creators.
Best case scenario: old people who hate mob games (justifiably so) leave the franchise and a new group of fans / children join the playerbase to make it a wholesome controversy free community.

15.09.2022I believe they could have made the first chapter free for new people and still make people who originally bought it to get chapter 2 for free or for 4.99 because Stanley parable was able to give people a discount so I don't see why they can't just give a 50% discount to people who own the previous chapter.
